Brief Case History

Caleb Carrothers was convicted of the double murder of Taylor and Frank Clark. Taylor Clark had a reputation as a marijuana dealer and was known to carry cash on his person. Frank was Taylor’s father. The altercation began at a different location a few hours earlier but ended in murder at Taylor’s parents’ house. A man forced his way into the home, killing Frank Clark, shooting Tonya Clark, Taylor’s mother, twice in the neck, and killing Taylor. The man who committed the murders then harassed the other family members for money, saying that Taylor owed him $5k. He was given keys to Taylor’s car and $50 and then left the premises. Carrothers was identified from a line up by Taylor’s brother (but not by his mother). Carrothers’s injuries were corroborated by testimony from a nearby convenience store where Carrothers is believed to have shopped shortly after the murders.
