Brief Case History

Dale Bishop was convicted of capital murder with the underlying crime of kidnapping. Post-conviction and pre-sentencing, Bishop addressed the judge and asked to be put to death. He was then sentenced to death.

Bishop’s legal team made a direct appeal to his death sentence, which was denied, and then sought post-conviction relief. This, too, was denied. Bishop was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder while in prison and Amnesty International sought to have his death sentence overturned. Bishop was executed on July 23rd, 2008.
