Brief Case History
Paul Woodward was convicted of three crimes - capital murder while engaged in committing the crime of rape, kidnapping, and sexual battery - in 1987. A jury sentenced him to death. Woodward and his legal team sought post-conviction relief, were granted it, and his case was remanded. A second jury sentenced him to death.
Woodward and his legal team then raised a number of appeals, including another petition for post-conviction relief and a motion to vacate the death sentence. All were denied. Woodward was executed on May 19th, 2010, one day before the execution of Gerald Holland.
