Brief Case History

Ricky Chase and an accomplice were convicted of killing one man, Elmer Hart, while robbing his home in 1989. When Hart arrived home, he found that his wife had been tied up, gagged, and doused with chemicals. In trying to help his wife, he was shot and killed in front of her. The handling of Mr. Hart’s wife added a kidnapping charge to Chase’s sentence. Chase has recently tried and failed to have his death sentence remanded on the grounds of mental disability.
