Steven M. Knox was convicted of robbing and brutally killing Ella Mae Spears in 1998. Her autopsy reports suggested manual strangulation as the cause of death. Knox was found with Spears’ belongings in his possession. He claimed to have no memory of the crime, but the court sentenced him to death. Knox has continued to file petitions for post-conviction relief but his appeals have been unsuccessful.
